TLDR Stopping Cyclosporine A led to hair regrowth in a child with alopecia.
A case report describes a 20-month-old girl with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome who developed severe alopecia after mistakenly taking a high dose of Cyclosporine A (CsA), an immunosuppressive drug. Although CsA typically causes increased hair growth, it can paradoxically induce alopecia in rare instances. Upon discontinuation of the drug, the child's hair began to regrow within a week. This case highlights the complexity of drug-induced alopecia and suggests a need for further research into the immune dysregulation linked to alopecia areata.
