TLDR Cyclic ADP-ribose helps regulate calcium and signals that promote hair growth in hair follicle cells.
The study explored the role of cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR) in modulating intracellular calcium dynamics and anagen-associated signaling in human hair follicle dermal papilla cells (HHDPCs). Treatment with cADPR, particularly at 0.05 ppm, maintained high cell viability and elevated intracellular calcium levels for up to 6 hours. This concentration also enhanced β-catenin-dependent transcription by 2.3-fold, increased LEF-1 expression by 2.5-fold, and decreased TGF-β2 expression by 0.3-fold, indicating a concentration-dependent effect. These results suggest that cADPR influences calcium retention and signaling pathways related to hair growth, warranting further research to understand its mechanistic and physiological implications.
