TLDR Post-COVID, many patients experience skin issues like hair loss and herpes reactivation, especially in middle-aged women.
This study at Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College and Hospital involved 50 patients and identified various cutaneous manifestations in the post-COVID period. Telogen effluvium was the most common, affecting 30% of patients, likely due to cytokine-mediated hair cycle disruption. Herpes reactivation occurred in 20% of patients, indicating possible viral reactivation. Other observed conditions included acne, lichen planus, pityriasis rosea, and psoriasis, suggesting immune-mediated responses. The study highlighted a higher prevalence of these conditions in females and middle-aged individuals, underscoring the importance of dermatological vigilance and management to enhance patients' quality of life.
