TLDR Using tamsulosin with finasteride is the most effective and reduces surgery risk for BPH.
The study analyzed the cost-effectiveness of four drug therapy projects for treating BPH in 168 out-patients with mild and moderate conditions. The patients were divided into four groups, receiving finasteride, tamsulosin, a combination of tamsulosin and finasteride, and prostat. The results indicated that while the costs were similar across the treatments, the combination of tamsulosin and finasteride was the most effective. The conclusion was that using tamsulosin with finasteride not only provided a good curative effect but also reduced the risk of surgery and the incidence of acute urinary retention.
