TLDR Combining TRA and latanoprost is most effective for treating localized alopecia areata.
This study compared the efficacy of intralesional injections of triamcinolone acetonide (TRA), latanoprost (a prostaglandin F2α analog), and a combination of both in treating localized alopecia areata (AA) in 75 patients divided into three groups. Group B, which received the combination treatment, showed the highest response rate (76%) compared to group A (64%) and group C (40%). Severity scores significantly declined in all groups post-treatment, with group B showing the most substantial improvement. The study suggests that combining TRA and latanoprost may offer enhanced efficacy in treating localized AA.
