TLDR Patients follow treatment well, but many change medicines; good information helps compliance.
The study aimed to evaluate factors influencing compliance with pharmacological therapy and patient-reported outcome of patients with benign prostate enlargement (BPE) and subsequent lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). The survey was performed via questionnaire that included 45 questions related to patient's symptoms, medical therapy, patient's personal attitudes, social and economic aspects, health care delivery, and social support. Four hundred questionnaires were distributed, and 205 were received back, out of which 172 were analyzed. The patients on combination therapy for LUTS show high-level adherence. At the same time, many patients are modifying their medicines. Proper patient information is important to provide better compliance with the treatment.
