TLDR Diagnosing and managing monilethrix is harder when it occurs with other hair loss conditions.
This case report discusses a 38-year-old woman with monilethrix, a genetic hair shaft disorder, and androgenetic alopecia, a common form of hair loss. The coexistence of these conditions complicates diagnosis and management. Trichoscopy showed hair shaft variability, including miniaturized hairs with features of both disorders. The report emphasizes the challenges in diagnosing and managing monilethrix when it occurs alongside other hair conditions.
