TLDR The G allele of IFITM3 rs12252 is linked to more severe COVID-19.
The study identified a significant association between the G allele of the IFITM3 rs12252 polymorphism and increased severity of COVID-19. This correlation was supported by elevated inflammatory markers and higher CT scan scores in individuals carrying the G allele, suggesting that genetic variations in IFITM3 may influence the clinical outcomes of COVID-19.
