TLDR The ACE1 gene variant doesn't affect long-COVID symptoms.
A study of 288 previously hospitalized COVID-19 survivors found no significant association between the ACE1 rs1799752 polymorphism and long-COVID symptoms, consistent with previous findings regarding ACE2 and TMPRSS2 polymorphisms. The research suggests that genetic variability might explain the lack of association and notes that COVID-19 severity does not necessarily correlate with long-COVID development. The study's limitations include its focus on hospitalized patients and the need for larger sample sizes to confirm the findings.
