TLDR Male pattern hair loss is diagnosed and treated earlier and is milder, possibly due to early puberty.
The study analyzed 1,360 patients with male pattern hair loss (MPHL) from a total of 3,549 alopecia patients at Myongji Hospital over 10 years. The most affected age group was individuals in their 20s, and a significant number had a familial predisposition, particularly paternal. MPHL was most commonly classified as Norwood-Hamilton types 2, 3v, and 3a. Abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels were noted in some patients, with seborrheic dermatitis being the most common comorbidity. The study concluded that MPHL diagnosis and treatment occurred earlier and were milder, potentially due to early puberty in teenagers.
