TLDR Young men with early hair loss and high SAA3 levels are at higher risk for heart disease.
The study evaluated Serum Amyloid A3 (SAA3) levels in young adult males with early-onset androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and explored the relationship between SAA3 levels and atherosclerosis. Conducted at Benha University from January to June 2019, the cross-sectional study included patients from the Dermatology, Venerology, and Andrology Department. Results indicated that patients under 30 years old with grade III and IV AGA, especially those with a family history of heart disease and elevated lipid profiles, had significantly higher SAA3 levels. This group was at a higher risk of developing arterial atherosclerotic disease compared to peers without AGA.
