Rejuvenating Senescent Hair Follicles: A Novel Conjugated Linoleic Acid Based Nanovesicle Approach to Treat Androgenic Alopecia
January 2025
TLDR A new treatment using conjugated linoleic acid nanovesicles can rejuvenate hair follicles and improve hair growth in androgenic alopecia.
This study addresses the limitations of current androgenetic alopecia (AGA) treatments by introducing a novel approach using conjugated linoleic acid (CLA)-loaded nanovesicles (Arg-CLAVs) to rejuvenate senescent hair follicles (HFs). The research highlights the role of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in HF miniaturization and identifies CLA's anti-aging potential. Arg-CLAVs were shown to counteract DHT-induced HF aging by reducing oxidative stress, modulating signaling pathways, and enhancing the HF environment. When combined with minoxidil (MNX) in MNX@Arg-CLAVs, the formulation demonstrated improved hair growth and reduced skin irritation in AGA mice compared to commercial MNX tincture. This innovative nanoplatform offers synergistic effects with existing treatments, promoting HF anti-aging and hair regeneration.
