Circle Hairs in a Patient with Multiple Myeloma

TLDR An elderly woman with cancer improved after treatment for a rare skin condition with coiled hairs.
A 2021 case study in "Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol" describes an 80-year-old woman with multiple myeloma who developed circle hairs and skin lesions on her legs, likely due to acquired ichthyosis secondary to her condition. Circle hairs are rare, perfectly coiled hairs under the skin's cornified layer. The study suggests a potential link between multiple myeloma and circle hairs, possibly due to the disease interfering with hair formation. Treatment with topical humectants and keratolytic agents led to slight improvement. The pathogenesis of circle hair remains unclear, and further research is needed.
