TLDR cgVEGF164 boosts hair follicle growth in mice.
The study investigated the role of cgVEGF164 on murine hair follicle growth by creating transgenic mice with a keratin 14 promoter-driven cgVEGF164. The results showed that transgenic mice had increased hair follicle diameter and density compared to non-transgenic controls. Additionally, protein expression levels and phosphorylation of ERK1/2, AKT1, and LEF1 were significantly higher in transgenic mice. The study concluded that cgVEGF164 could enhance hair follicle growth, potentially through increased protein phosphorylation of ERK1/2, AKT1, and LEF1.
