Cedrol, a compound derived from ginger and cedar oil, has been shown to mitigate lipid accumulation in the liver and adipose tissues of adult male mice induced by the glucocorticoid dexamethasone. The study reveals that cedrol inhibits the expression of genes related to lipid metabolism and demonstrates antagonistic activity against glucocorticoid receptors (GRs). These findings suggest that cedrol's GR antagonist activity may underlie its effects on lipid metabolism, indicating its potential use in treating lipid metabolism disorders caused by high levels of glucocorticoids.
