TLDR hHb1, hHb3, and hHb6 mRNAs start expressing at the same time in hair follicles.
The study investigated the expression patterns of type II hair keratin groups A and C in human scalp hair follicles using in situ hybridization (ISH) and immunofluorescence (IIF). It was found that the mRNAs for hHb1, hHb3, and hHb6 were expressed in the lower to mid-cortex region of the hair follicle. Contrary to previous findings, a thorough analysis suggested that the onset of expression for hHb1, hHb3, and hHb6 mRNAs occurred almost simultaneously.
