TLDR No CD44 in alopecia areata, present in normal and androgenetic alopecia.
The study found that CD44 expression was absent in the scalp of patients with alopecia areata, while it was present in normal scalp and androgenetic alopecia. This suggests that CD44 may have a specific function in eccrine coil cells and its absence in alopecia areata may provide insight into the disease's pathogenesis. However, more research is needed to confirm these findings.
