    The study investigates the potential of expanding CD4+ T regulatory cells (Tregs) to halt disease progression in alopecia areata (AA), an autoimmune condition causing hair loss. Using a murine model, researchers achieved in vivo expansion of Tregs with an IL-2 cytokine/antibody complex (IL-2C), which selectively enhances Tregs. After 6 weeks of IL-2C treatment, hair loss progression was halted, and there was a reduction in pathogenic NKG2D+ CD8 T cells and IFNγ-producing CD8 T cells in the skin. These findings suggest that Treg enrichment could be a promising therapeutic strategy for AA, offering an alternative to current treatments with potential adverse effects.
