TLDR CBD might help protect skin from UV rays in sunscreen, but more research is needed.
This review analyzed 12 articles from 2019-2021 on the use of cannabidiol (CBD) in sunscreen, focusing on its anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties. The majority of studies involved human cell lines, with some animal and human studies, and reviews. Findings suggest that CBD may offer UV protection for skin cells due to its antioxidant properties, potentially making it a beneficial addition to sunscreen. However, further research is needed to fully understand its safety, tolerability, and efficacy.
