TLDR People with Alopecia Areata have a higher risk of heart-related health issues.
The study aimed to investigate the potential cardiovascular risk factors and co-morbidities associated with Alopecia Areata (AA). It was a case-control study that included a total of 200 participants, with 100 patients diagnosed with AA and 100 healthy controls. The findings indicated that patients with AA had a higher prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors, such as hypertension and dyslipidemia, compared to the control group. Additionally, the study observed an increased incidence of metabolic syndrome among AA patients. These results suggested a significant association between AA and an elevated risk of cardiovascular conditions, highlighting the importance of monitoring cardiovascular health in individuals with AA.
