TLDR PRP derivatives are likely safe for therapeutic use without harmful effects.
This study evaluated the safety of a commercially available platelet-rich plasma (PRP) derivative in healthy beagle dogs, focusing on its local and systemic effects. The local effect was assessed through CT scans and echography, while the systemic effect was measured by monitoring insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) blood levels over 56 days. The results showed no statistically significant changes in the dogs, suggesting that PRP derivatives could be considered safe for therapeutic use without causing ergogenic or carcinogenic effects.
