TLDR The Chromolaena odorata patch significantly speeds up wound healing.
The study concluded that the Chromolaena odorata-layered nitrile rubber transdermal patch significantly enhances wound healing in rats. Treated wounds showed higher wound contraction, increased levels of proteins, hexosamine, and uronic acid, and improved histological outcomes compared to controls. The patch promoted rapid re-epithelialization, increased fibroblast proliferation, angiogenesis, and denser collagen deposition, leading to faster maturation of collagen from type-III to type-I. These findings suggest that the C. odorata-layered nitrile rubber patch could be developed into an effective wound healing agent for pharmaceutical applications.
