TLDR Botulinum toxin may improve hair transplant success by enhancing graft survival and hair density.
This study investigates the impact of botulinum toxin (BoNT) on hair transplantation outcomes through a split-scalp randomized controlled trial. BoNT, known for its cosmetic and therapeutic uses, has shown potential in treating hair disorders like androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The study hypothesizes that BoNT can enhance hair transplantation success by improving the scalp's microenvironment, specifically by increasing local oxygenation and blood flow, thus reducing ischemia-induced graft failure. The trial aims to determine if preoperative BoNT administration can improve graft survival and hair density in patients undergoing hair transplantation.
