TLDR Botulinum toxin injections do not improve hair transplant results.
A recent split-scalp randomized controlled trial investigated the impact of preoperative Botulinum toxin (BoNT) injections on hair transplantation outcomes. Despite BoNT's known benefits in enhancing scalp microenvironment through improved oxygenation and blood flow, the study concluded that preoperative BoNT administration does not improve hair transplantation outcomes. This finding suggests that while BoNT may be effective in increasing hair diameter and density in androgenetic alopecia patients, it does not mitigate ischemia-induced graft failure in hair transplantation procedures.
