TLDR Botulinum toxin injections do not improve hair transplant results.
A split-scalp randomized controlled trial was conducted to evaluate the impact of preoperative botulinum toxin (BoNT) injections on hair transplantation outcomes. Despite BoNT's known benefits in enhancing local oxygenation and blood flow, the study found that preoperative BoNT administration did not improve hair transplantation results. The trial aimed to address challenges such as graft survival and ischemia-induced graft failure, but the findings suggest that BoNT does not enhance the success of hair transplants.
