TLDR Botulinum toxin injections do not improve hair transplant results.
A split-scalp randomized controlled trial was conducted to evaluate the impact of preoperative Botulinum toxin (BoNT) injections on hair transplantation outcomes. Despite BoNT's known benefits in enhancing scalp microenvironment through improved oxygenation and blood flow, the study found that preoperative BoNT administration did not improve hair transplantation results. This suggests that while BoNT may be effective in increasing hair diameter and density in androgenetic alopecia patients, it does not enhance graft survival or transplantation success in patients undergoing hair transplantation for male pattern hair loss or congenital high hairline.
