TLDR IGF2BP3 and other m6A-related genes are linked to keloid formation and could be potential treatment targets.
This study explores the role of m6A-related genes in keloid pathogenesis through bioinformatics analysis, using data from 18 keloid and 11 normal skin samples. It identifies 36 m6A-related genes with differential expression, notably the upregulation of IGF2BP3, which could serve as a diagnostic biomarker. A diagnostic model was developed with high accuracy (AUC of 0.93) using 27 m6A genes. The study also highlights the involvement of immune cell infiltration in keloid formation and identifies five influential genes: METTL16, YTHDF3, YTHDC2, WTAP, and ZCCHC4. Despite limitations like a small sample size, the research provides insights into molecular mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets for keloids.
