TLDR Fiber implants effectively treat permanent hair loss with few complications.
The study documents the results of fiber implants for the treatment of permanent alopecias, including scalp scars and androgenetic alopecia. The fiber implants were manufactured by an Italian firm and were certified as prosthetic medical devices in the European Union. The study involved 196 patients who received implants, and controls, for at least 2 years to collect data on indications and contraindications of this methodology, to evaluate results, and to document complications. Results were excellent in more than 85% of patients treated, complications were mild and rare, and the average yearly fall rate of the fibers was less than 20%. Fiber hair restoration appears to be a suitable method for hair restoration for permanent types of alopecia.
