TLDR Bimatoprost increases hair growth in mice without breaking down into other substances.
The study investigated bimatoprost's hair growth-stimulating properties and its biodisposition in mouse skin. Administering bimatoprost at 0.03% once daily for 14 days led to increased hair growth in C57/black 6 mice, evidenced by earlier onset and faster complete hair regrowth. Biodisposition analysis at 0.01%, 0.03%, and 0.06% concentrations showed dose-dependent C(max) values (3.41, 6.74, 12.3 μg/g tissue) and sustained presence in the skin for 24 hours post-dose. Bimatoprost was found in the skin only as the intact molecule, indicating it induces hypertrichosis without metabolite formation.
