TLDR PRF is preferred for better healing in dental surgeries.
The review article examines the role of autologous platelet concentrates in periodontal regeneration, focusing on their evolution, preparation methods, and clinical applications. It highlights Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF), with PRF being preferred for its simpler preparation and superior regenerative properties. PRF aids healing by releasing growth factors that stimulate cell proliferation and angiogenesis. Advanced forms like Injectable PRF (i-PRF) and Advanced PRF (A-PRF) offer prolonged growth factor release. These concentrates are beneficial in periodontal and implant surgeries, enhancing wound healing and tissue regeneration. The article also discusses T-PRF and CGF, with CGF showing superior outcomes in implant stability and osseointegration. Further research is suggested to explore new formulations.
