TLDR A rare form of lupus can cause severe nerve damage and other symptoms, but treatment can help.
A 22-year-old female with Systemic Lupus Erythematous (SLE) presented with acute bilateral lower limb pain, burning sensation, malar rash, and hair loss. Clinical evaluation revealed severe sensory motor polyneuropathy, confirmed by nerve conduction studies, and positive autoimmune markers. Diagnosed with SLE based on SLICC criteria, she was treated with methylprednisolone, oral prednisolone, hydroxychloroquine, and cyclophosphamide, resulting in symptomatic improvement. This case highlights a rare presentation of SLE with vasculitic polyneuropathy.
