TLDR Clofazimine successfully treated a man's ashy dermatosis, clearing his skin lesions.
The document reports a case of a 46-year-old man with ashy dermatosis, a rare skin condition characterized by ash-gray patches, who was successfully treated with clofazimine. The patient had a history of gray-bluish-colored asymptomatic macules with an active erythematous border expanding over his trunk and upper thighs. Blood tests and patch tests were negative, and a skin biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. Treatment with clofazimine 100 mg daily for 3 months, followed by 100 mg every other day for another 3 months, led to significant improvement, with the clearing of gray macules and no new lesions. After 6 months of follow-up, the patient remained lesion-free. This case supports the therapeutic efficacy of clofazimine in treating ashy dermatosis, which has various treatment options with variable results. Clofazimine's beneficial effects may be due to its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory actions. No commercial support was identified for this study.
