TLDR Nano-liposol with astaxanthin may improve antioxidant and wound healing effects.
The study developed a lecithin nano-liposol (ASTA@Lec NS) with a high loading capacity of astaxanthin (ASTA) to improve its stability and bioavailability. The nano-liposol achieved an entrapment efficiency of 98.8% and demonstrated enhanced antioxidant activity, with approximately 60% activity at 1 mg/mL, surpassing that of bare ASTA. It also showed improved solubilization and radical scavenging activity. In vitro, ASTA@Lec NS enhanced wound healing efficacy in NIH 3T3 cells without cytotoxicity. The study suggested potential applications in functional foods, medicines, and cosmetics due to its effective delivery system and stability, especially when lyophilized with optimal sucrose levels.
