TLDR Collagen reduces skin melanin, boosts antioxidants, and improves skin moisture.
The study tested the antioxidant and whitening effects of collagen and its compound using guinea pigs and a D-galactose aging mice model. Results showed that collagen significantly inhibited tyrosinase content, reduced melanin granules in guinea pig hair follicle cells, decreased MDA density in aging mice, and increased SOD levels. Additionally, collagen enhanced hydroxyproline and moisture content in mice skin. The conclusion was that collagen and its compound had antioxidant effects, reduced skin melanin granules, and increased skin hydroxyprolinase and moisture content.
