TLDR Bacillus tequilensis from Leea indica leaves is a strong natural antioxidant source.
The study found that the BT4 isolate of Bacillus tequilensis from Leea indica leaves exhibited strong antioxidant activity, particularly when extracted with n-butanol, achieving an IC50 of 59.021±0.541 µg/mL. This extract also had high flavonoid and phenolic contents, measuring 4.686±0.476 mgQE/g and 31.406±0.716 mgGAE/g, respectively. The presence of bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, terpenoids, and steroids in the BT4 isolate suggests that endophytic bacteria from L. indica leaves could serve as a valuable source of natural antioxidants.
