This study explored a method to achieve a long-lasting antimicrobial effect by covalently binding antimicrobial agents to the hair shaft. The research demonstrated that hair treated with quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC) exhibited antibacterial activity against bacteria causing dandruff and underarm odor. Although the antibacterial effect diminished slightly after 5 washes, it remained effective.
