TLDR Zizyphus lotus leaves and fruits have strong antidiabetic effects and potential skin benefits.
The study conducted a multivariate comparative analysis of the chemical composition and pharmacological properties of Zizyphus lotus leaves and fruits. It found that the leaves exhibited moderate antioxidant activity and both leaves and fruits showed potent in vitro antidiabetic activity, surpassing the effects of acarbose. The research highlighted the traditional use of Z. lotus in treating diabetes and its potential dermatoprotective benefits. The study identified significant differences in phenolic compounds between the leaves and fruits, with gallic acid being the major component.
