TLDR Finasteride may help prevent prostate cancer.
The article discussed the potential role of 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors, such as finasteride, in the prevention of prostate cancer. It presented a case of prostatic intraepithelial neoplasm (PIN) treated with finasteride for benign prostatic hyperplasia, which resulted in prostatic atrophy upon biopsy. The study explored the mechanism of anti-androgenic therapy in treating dysplasias and reviewed existing literature on its potential to reduce prostate cancer risk.
