TLDR PRP effectively treats hair loss, especially when combined with microneedling or minoxidil.
This systematic review evaluated the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in treating alopecia by analyzing major randomized clinical trials from the past 5 years. The findings indicate that PRP effectively increases the proliferative activity of hair follicle cells and capillary density. In cases of androgenetic alopecia, combining PRP with microneedling or minoxidil enhanced treatment effectiveness and reduced the time needed for optimal results. The review followed PRISMA guidelines and assessed study quality using the GRADE instrument and Cochrane risk of bias tool.
