TLDR Hair loss in Clouston's syndrome improved with minoxidil and tretinoin treatment.
This article reports on a case of a 6-year-old boy with congenital hidrotic ectodermal dysplasia, also known as Clouston's syndrome, who had alopecia. The patient was treated with a combination of topical minoxidil and tretinoin, resulting in a threefold increase in hair density on the scalp after six months of therapy. The authors propose that this combination could be a rational treatment of choice in congenital hypotrichosis associated with syndromes such as ectodermal dysplasias. The efficacy and safety of long-term treatment needs to be explored further.
