TLDR Combining SADBE with other treatments can help hair regrowth in alopecia areata patients.
The study examined 17 patients with alopecia areata who were treated with SADBE topical immunotherapy between 1999 and 2001. While 3 patients experienced cosmetically acceptable hair regrowth with SADBE alone, the remaining 14 showed no or poor regrowth after an average of 6.9 months. However, when SADBE was combined with other therapies such as topical dry ice cryotherapy, carpronium chloride, and/or oral cepharanthin, 6 of these 14 patients achieved satisfactory hair regrowth after an average of 7.6 months. The findings suggested that combination therapy could be effective for cases of alopecia areata that were unresponsive to SADBE alone.
