TLDR Single-cell engineered biotherapeutics show promise for skin treatment but need more research and trials.
The review discusses the potential of single-cell engineered live biotherapeutic products (eLBPs) in skin repair and disease treatment, highlighting their ability to restore a healthy microbiome and target specific cells. Despite promising outcomes in some studies, significant challenges remain in translating eLBPs into clinical applications, particularly concerning practical implementation and scalability. The review calls for further research, robust clinical trials, and exploration of bioengineered bacterial chassis to validate the effectiveness of eLBPs as a transformative approach in dermatological therapies.
