TLDR Hemodialysis successfully treated a cat with minoxidil poisoning.
A 5-year-old male American Shorthair cat developed minoxidil toxicosis after spilling the substance on itself, leading to symptoms like lethargy, anorexia, and respiratory distress. Initial treatments, including oxygen therapy and medications, were ineffective. However, after two sessions of intermittent hemodialysis, the cat's condition improved significantly, with normalization of body temperature and blood pressure. The cat fully recovered and was discharged after 11 days. This case marks the first successful use of hemodialysis to treat minoxidil toxicosis in a cat.
