TLDR A new tool helps study hair follicle cells to develop better treatments for hair disorders.
The study aimed to create a detailed transcriptomic atlas of human hair follicle (HF) compartments using laser capture microdissection (LCM) and RNA sequencing on 8 specific compartments of human anagen VI scalp HFs. Principal component analysis (PCA) confirmed the distinctness of these compartments, and known signature genes were correctly matched to their respective HF compartments. The resulting data were used to generate a publicly accessible database for identifying compartment-specific gene expression profiles. This resource is expected to aid in the development of targeted therapeutic interventions for human HF disorders.
