TLDR Topical 5% minoxidil is safe and effective for treating hair loss in Korean men.
This 2009 study assessed the efficacy and safety of topical 5% minoxidil solution for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in Korean men. Conducted over 24 weeks at 14 university dermatologic centers in South Korea, the study involved 175 men aged 20-62 years. Participants applied the solution twice daily. Results showed a statistically significant increase in total hair counts and mean hair diameter (p<.0001) at week 24 compared to baseline. Both investigator and patient assessments indicated improvement in scalp coverage and treatment benefits. The solution was well tolerated, leading to the conclusion that topical 5% minoxidil is a safe and effective treatment for Korean men with AGA.
