TLDR The 5% minoxidil solution effectively treated hair loss with good tolerability.
A 12-month observational study in Germany involving 984 male patients with androgenetic alopecia evaluated the efficacy of a 5% minoxidil topical solution. Physicians reported a reduction in the affected area in 62% of 904 eligible subjects, with hair regrowth rated as very effective or effective in 63.7% of 902 patients. Hair shedding decreased from an average of 69.7 hairs during washing at the start to 33.8 hairs at the end. Patient satisfaction increased from a mean score of 2.9 to 4.4 over the study period. Adverse events occurred in 3.9% of patients, primarily dermatological, but none were serious. The study concluded that the 5% minoxidil solution was effective in treating AGA, with good tolerability.
