    Glossary Reactive Oxygen Species

highly reactive molecules containing oxygen that can damage cells

Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are highly reactive molecules containing oxygen, such as peroxides and free radicals. They are natural byproducts of cellular metabolism but can cause damage to cells, proteins, and DNA if their levels become too high, contributing to aging and various diseases.
