    absence of menstrual periods in women of reproductive age

    Amenorrhea is the medical term for the absence of menstrual periods in a woman of reproductive age. It can be classified as primary, where menstruation never begins at puberty, or secondary, where menstruation starts but then stops for three or more consecutive months. Causes can range from hormonal imbalances and stress to more serious conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or thyroid disorders.
