    Glossary Alpha-Melanocyte-Stimulating Hormone

peptide hormone that regulates skin pigmentation by stimulating melanin production

Alpha-Melanocyte-Stimulating Hormone (α-MSH) is a peptide hormone produced in the pituitary gland that plays a crucial role in regulating skin pigmentation by stimulating the production of melanin in melanocytes. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and can influence appetite and energy homeostasis.
