May 2025 in “International Journal of Trichology”
Mudichood dermatosis, or Hair Heat Disease, is a dermatological condition prevalent in southern India, particularly Kerala, and is thought to result from a nonspecific follicular reaction due to wet and oily hair in hot, humid conditions, combined with friction between hair and skin. The document discusses two case reports of women from Pune, Maharashtra, who developed itchy, raised lesions on their upper backs. These cases were linked to the application of hair oil and hairstyles that caused friction. Diagnosis was made through history, clinical examination, and dermoscopy, and treatment included topical corticosteroids, tretinoin gel, and oral antihistamines.
