Melan-A, also known as MART-1 (Melanoma Antigen Recognized by T-cells 1), is a protein found in melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing the pigment melanin in the skin. It is commonly used as a marker in the diagnosis and study of melanoma, a type of skin cancer, because it is expressed in most melanoma cells.
